Department of Education - Moggill State School

Gripfast has been appointed the Project Manager and Superintendent for Moggill State School. The project was to provide a solution to meet anticipated future demand by constructing a new two storey building and provide future proofing to the site as required. The two storey building will include four (4v) General Learning Area’s (GLA), student amenities, staff amenities and future proofing for four (4) prep spaces on the ground level.

University of Queensland – Major Maintenance

Gripfast were appointed as the Project Managers and Superintendent for UQ’s Major Services Upgrade project. We have assumed the role as key PM for the scoping, design, and project management of a portfolio of major maintenance and services upgrades including HVAC, vertical transportation, and fire services, including all associated building works.

The project complexity is increased because the buildings impacted by the works are across two campuses and include nearly all faculties making stakeholder management critical. In addition, works will be completed on a live campus making management of safety and environmental issues critical.

Australian Catholic University, North Sydney – Library relocation

Australian Catholic University (ACU) have appointed Gripfast as the project managers for the ACU North Sydney Library Relocation project. The scope of the project is to relocate existing library services from James Carrol Building (40 Edward St, North Sydney) to Caroline Chisolm House (33 Berry St, North Sydney). The project includes essential building upgrades and expansion works to accommodate for future needs and growth.

Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus – Capital works

Gripfast is providing project management services to several capital projects at Griffith University’s Gold Coast campus. The main projects include a refit for a strength and conditioning laboratory and replacement of an existing travelator and boiler set.

University of Queensland, Charleville

UQ Charleville have requested project management services from Gripfast to deliver a purpose- built modular clinical training facility on the grounds of the Charleville Hospital. The facility is to support the delivery of rural training placements of nursing, midwifery and allied health students in the location to contribute to development of the health workforce within the region.

Vicinity Centres, Whitsunday Plaza – Anaconda and Base51

Gripfast has been engaged by Vicinity Centres to assist in Project Management services to deliver a large tenancy split into an Anaconda and fitness gym. Our involvement included initiation to defect close- out.

Spice Food Group, Elizabeth Arcade – Dining and retail laneway

Spice Food Group engaged Gripfast Consulting as Tenancy Delivery Manager to deliver 12 tenancies located within the newly redeveloped Elizabeth Arcade, Brisbane. Our role is to assist in all aspects from coordination of design to defect close- out.

Department of Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs (DLGRMA)

Indigenous Councils Critical Infrastructure Program (ICCIP), Cherbourg Waste Water Treatment Plant
The Cherbourg Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Associated Works project is a series of critical infrastructure upgrades for the regional aboriginal community of Cherbourg. The Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council were allocated $1.2 million for the project to fund the program that delivers critical water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure to Queensland’s Indigenous Councils.

The project incorporated constructing a new treatment plant and sewerage storage ponds, relining the community’s sewerage network, an upgrade to four sewerage pump stations and the installation of a 20Ha irrigation system to irrigate recycled water from the treatment plant. The project ran incident free for two years and was delivered on time and under budget. Completed in 2018.

Counter Terrorism & Community Safety Centre, Wacol Police Complex

The Gripfast team were first engaged to assist PwC and the Queensland Government to develop a Detailed Business Case for the Counter Terrorism and Community Safety Training Centre (STCSC). Our role focused on the training requirements (indoor and outdoor) and ranges for the facility working closely with the architects and engineers in refining the concept design. The Gripfast team drew on its extensive experience with Defence ranges and urban training facilities in building the business case for a state-of-the-art training facility for the Queensland Police Service. Once the business case was approved and funds allocated the team were engaged by the Department of State Development (DSD) to lead the Risk Management for the project. The team worked closely with Government, QPS and other Government agencies to develop a detailed and dynamic risk register and risk management methodology for the project.

The new facility, due for completion in November 2020 will include:

• A life-like scenario village
• A firearms training facility
• A multi-function training facility
• A fully refurbished heritage listed Jacaranda House for workplace accommodation.

Cambodian Mine Action Centre Training Facility, Phnom Pen

Our Managing Director was the project engineer for the design and development of a new training facility to support landmine clearance operations across Cambodia. The internationally funded project provided indoor training facilities including classrooms, lecture rooms, TEWT facilities and offices, while outdoor facilities included mock minefield, demolitions training areas, covered teaching areas and an explosive detection dog facility. The project also included warehouse facilities, armour for explosives and accommodation for trainees.

National Cricket Centre, Albion

Members of our team were the project managers for the new National Cricket Centre for Cricket Australia at Albion. The multi-storey complex is adjacent to the Alan Border Field in Brisbane. Features include a gymnasium, indoor practice wickets, synthetic turf, a 25 metre indoor lap pool, sports science facilities (injury rehabilitation, sports medicine), commercial space and basement parking. The facility also includes a state-of-the-art athlete development centre which integrates science, technology and coaching. The centre also features new technology such as virtual reality tools for decision making and biomechanical equipment for technique analysis, research and skill development. The existing Queensland Cricket building remained fully operational during construction. The project faced a number of challenges including a constrained site with restricted access, very poor ground conditions and an extremely short construction program. The project was jointly funded by the State and Federal Governments, with the remaining funds contributed by Cricket Australia.

Multiple Sclerosis Queensland, Toowoomba and Sippy Downs - Special Disability Accommodation (SDA)

Multiple Sclerosis Queensland, Toowoomba and Sippy Downs - Special Disability Accommodation (SDA) Gripfast has been appointed as the Project Manager and Superintendent for the delivery of 2 SDA apartment buildings that will be certified as SDA and be eligible for SDA payments from National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Each building is to be made up of 12 SDA apartments with an added 1 Onsite Overnight Assistance space (OOA) which is to be constructed to meet High Physical Support Design Requirements (Living Housing Australia Platinum Level plus specified MSQ extras.)

Economic Development Queensland, Circular economic strategies

Gripfast were engaged to support the Director of Innovation and Economic Strategies to explore and develop key messaging to present a Sunshine Coast Industrial Park Circular Economies Study. The Queensland Government is moving the state toward the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy which sets out significant waste reduction targets until 2050.

We worked with VVCS to complete a qualitative evaluation of a Community Engagement Pilot program being trialled Townsville. We conducted the evaluation using an evaluation framework that looked at formative, process, impact and outcome evaluation of the pilot. This work was completed on a very tight time line (six weeks) and delivered in late 2018.

Transport and Main Roads Queensland – Commercial Goods and Services Modelling Project

Gripfast have been project managing a research project for TMR looking at the movement of goods and services vehicles through South East Queensland. TMR is developing and using its its transport modelling capabilities to support the Government’s decision making as it grows, connects, and develops or improves key regional economic centres. This project aims to develop and design a new transport model of commercial goods and service vehicle movements. Gripfast have facilitated scoping, design, risk and project management for this multi-million-dollar research project. The project is ongoing.

Gripfast has provided Multiple Sclerosis Limited with ongoing consultancy advice and support in relation to upcoming potential developments and ensuring that they comply not only with national standards and codes but also represent ‘industry best practice’ in the high care accommodation sector.

Pindan

Gripfast Consulting has worked with Pindan Contracting to develop their capabilities and networks in the Defence Sector. Specifically, the team has focused on building relationships and alliances with US companies in preparation for the US Force Posture Initiative (Northern Australia) scope of works due to commence in 2016.

HDR

The role with HDR Inc. commenced with HDR’s acquisition of Salva Resources over two years ago and has been an ongoing relationship focused on assisting HDR to develop the brand in Australia. Much of the work was business development related and was focused on growing the company’s engineering capability, exploring strategic acquisitions and building a portfolio of Defence projects both in Australia and regionally.

Georgiou

Gripfast Consulting worked with Georgiou to examine the opportunities for the company to grow within the Defence sector and the strategies they could use to grow their capabilities and market share. This took the format of a series of workshops culminating in a brief to the Board supported by a formal report.
